As the date for this year's Challenge Regatta approached with gathering momentum, umpteen weather forecasts showed that the wind was also gathering momentum. Not again... The last two years have been agony – the conditions sucking the fun out of the event. At least the Saturday forecast looked manageable, although North winds on both days did not promise equanimity – Gairloch's "Broth

Our first scheduled race day on 28 April produced some interesting racing. Although eight boats went out, the awkward conditions (Easterly wind, higher than forecast with unpredictable gusts from a number of directions) meant that only three actually competed in the end.
The second race day on 30 May had very similar wind and sea conditions, although the Easterly wind translated to mainly Souther

Like last September, Morven and Ori competed for glory at the front, with the Round the Island race being decisive. Vivienne had to forsake her Laser, but accompanied Steve in the Comet Trio with an athletic display on the trapeze that tied them in third place with

Challenge Regatta 2023Following last September's harrowing experiences, we changed the weekend to June and made many presentations and sacrifices to the weather gods in hope of getting perfect sailing conditions. We got it wrong... Saturday's weather was almost identical to last time and when the conditions relented on Sunday, the wind (almost) decided it was time for a break.
